I have always been active and interested in health and fitness, but I haven’t always made it a priority.  About 2 years ago, a year after the birth of my third child, I decided to commit to a consistent diet and training plan.  I joined a local gym and started lifting weights 3-4 times a week.  I made a lot of progress on my own (I lost about 20 pounds), and then I started working with a personal trainer and nutritionist in preparation for a fitness competition.  Although I continued to make great progress, after a few months I felt like I had plateaued.  Two of my gym friends were also training for competitions and I saw the impressive progress they were making with Jim.  At that point, I decided to reach out to him and see what he could offer.  That decision turned out to be a very good one!

Jim provided my nutrition plan and contest guidance.  We started about 10 weeks out from the contest, and I went from 13% bodyfat to 8% on competition day.   More importantly, I gained significant muscle while losing the fat. Jim’s knowledge of nutrition and training, along with his extensive experience as a pro competitive bodybuilder, was invaluable. He was very helpful and encouraging throughout the whole process. At the same time, his “no excuses” approach and attitude inspired me to do my best.  As Jim says, “We are not going for average.  We are going for the 1%.”

I placed 4th in novice bikini in my first competition and decided to start training once a week with Jim, in addition to continuing to follow his nutrition plans.  In just 3 months, I have noticed significant strength increases and changes in my physique.  I’m currently prepping for my second competition. Jim pushes me every during workout, and inspires me to achieve more than I thought I was capable of.  He  fosters a supportive, encouraging atmosphere at Gymbos, always introducing new members to veterans and making us all feel welcome.  I have witnessed all fitness levels at Gymbos and have noticed that the trainers are all very skilled at getting each person to perform at their individual highest level. It is hard not to be inspired to be your best in that kind of atmosphere!  After all, who wants to settle for average?
